Charitable Organization

Each year, the Missouri Health Care Executive Assistants adopt a charitable organization. This year, the Conference Committee chose Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City. The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City is to reduce the burden of childhood illness on children and their families by:

    • providing comfortable lodging convenient to local health care facilities
    • creating a caring and uplifting environment
    • undertaking resource and fund development activities that support its facilities, programs and services

Ronald McDonald House Charities has served Kansas City families fighting childhood illness since 1981. The organization provides temporary lodging for families with a child receiving medical treatment at any medical facility in the Kansas City metropolitan area. The Houses have 80 individual guest rooms with private baths and common living rooms, play areas and kitchen spaces. The worry and expense of finding a close, comfortable and affordable place for a family to stay while their child receives the medical care they need are alleviated. A comfortable bed, warm meals, showers, access to complimentary laundry and recreational facilities, and so much more are provided. Three Houses adjacent to Children’s Mercy Hospital and Ronald McDonald Family Rooms create places of respite where families can rally around and support one another. Although near Children’s Mercy downtown, they serve all pediatric hospitals in Kansas City.

This 40-year anniversary video gives a snapshot of RMHC-KC’s accomplishments, as well as its 35-year anniversary video, which gives a deeper dive into the organization’s history.

There are several ways to support the activities of RMHC-KC, as well as monetary, tax-deductible donations will be collected during the MHCEA Annual Conference.
